John Mansfield (Surrey)

John can produce some major innings down the order but mainly against spin bowling and mainly when the chips are down - a good 30 from Mansfield has been known to either strengthen a good score into a 350+ score or to try and rebuild the teams score after they have collapsed. The bowling is very good and partnered with Gary Dobson has blown through many top batsman very quickly. This was once bowling 22 overs non stop to get his best figures of 8 for 88. Up to this year Mansfield has been partnered with the ball by Gary Dobson but Simon Greer's form with the ball has made him the opening bowler for recent macthes. John's averages of 20.4 in Domestic Cricket, 23.9 in Domestic one dayer's & 22 in Tests prooves the fact that he is a real quality bowler. Indeed once John hung around to score 16, while Dobson scored 64 more runs (including 3 sixes) to complete a much deserved century, they then took 7 wickets between them with the ball. Possible problems with fielding ? (not a lot of catches, a fair few drop catches!).
