ICC Situations

Situation Name - Northants. 9 to win

Difficulty Rating = 2 (ratings go from 1 easy to 6 nearly impossible)

Hampshire have batted under cloudy skies for their innings of a 40 over Sunday League encounter against Northamptonshire, now the skies have cleared and batting is far easier, and as the last over is about to be bowled - Northants. require a further 9 runs from the last over of the match to be bowled by Cardigon Connor - Can you hold your nerve and avoid Northants. scoring the 9 runs they need to win ?

How did this situation arise ?

Hampshire, were put in under cloudy skies and lost wickets quickly mainly to Ambrose, who bowled a superb spell for Northants., the innings was rescued by a wonderful unbeaten 50 from Adrian Aymes and well supported by both Paul Whitaker and Kevan James. Whitaker's innings was well paced as a brilliant foil for Aymes, James then came in and blasted a very quick and very good 20 odd.

Now with the bowling Hampshire have done a fantastic job holding down the Northamptonshire batsmen, in particularly the spin of Maru and Whitaker and the pace men of Winston Benjamin and Cardigon Connor. Now with just one over remaining - Northamptonshire require 9 runs to win. This should be easily defendable if you don't concede a boundary to early on in the over. Northamptonshire have 9 wickets remaining and if they loose this match, may wish that they had maybe lost more wickets in trying scoring quicker.
