ICC Situations

Situation Name - Surrey2014 - the title decider

Difficulty Rating = 6 (ratings go from 1 easy to 6 nearly impossible)

My Surrey team (now in 2014), are a team who have won nearly everything. They are in dire trouble at 34/7 on a perfect batting strip under perfect batting conditions, can you rescue the team ? They really need to win this match to keep up with all the other county championship challenging teams, Has their luck run out in their chase of an 8th county championship series victory since 1998!

How did this situation arise ?

For the majority of the 2014 season Surrey's batsman had continued to pile on the runs, nearly every match there was a century stand and nearly every batsman has scored at least 1 hundred in their career many in this season and the one previous. The batsman were in absolute top batting form. Yep, you've guessed it when it rains it pours, when one batsman fails the rest follow. The tail is not known for its batting at all.

Add to that the fact that there is a brand new player in the team (Ian Platt) he's played just one match without being out. Platt is only in the squad after Surrey's Sri Lanka spinner was not picked for the match. Flavin, Mansfield and Greer all have strengths against Spin bowling which may not be on the cards for a few overs yet. Rescue the match to keep Surrey's championship hopes on course. Just to put it in context, if your score more than 100 in this 1st innings then you're an absolute genius. I have tried this myself 5 times now everytime I loose the match by between 6 wickets and an Innings and 48 runs which stops Surrey from winning the championship. The talents there - can the bowlers bat well now and then can they bowl out the opposition cheaply so the batsman can repair the damage second time round ? - are you equal to this challenge (Tip : - The bowling is good and can defend any target but the batting does fall away after no.8!).

If I remember correctly your also England manager.
